DISTRICT NEWS: School District of Gilman Hosts a Community Economic Analysis for Rural Wisconsin Communities Focused on Quality of Life and our Local Economy We are excited to share an update on a new project within the School District of Gilman area. Our community submitted an application that was selected to participate in a program with UW-Madison's Division of Extension and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. We were one of five selected across Wisconsin! A team of community representatives has committed to working with a multi-disciplinary team of experienced Extension educators and specialists on a Rural Wisconsin Communities strategic planning program, called Community Economic Analysis for Rural Wisconsin Communities. So far, we have conducted three of four planning sessions where we: -analyzed community and economic data, -learned more about community quality of life factors, -conducted an environmental scan, and -clarified the strategic issues and challenges that the community can work together to address The next steps include developing our action and implementation plan to address the following big questions: How will we make our community more attractive with a vibrant Main Street? How can we create an incentive to increase community engagement and volunteerism? How will we work with Aspirus to deliver continuous coverage with qualified EMTs? How will we develop a growth mindset within the community to overcome existing or current attitudes to improve our residents' quality of life? Looking ahead, we will plan for multiple ways to gather additional public input, and we are excited to have you involved and to hear from you to strengthen this community initiative. The School District of Gilman is asking for your assistance with the Taylor County Broadband project by having you take a moment to check the broadband access map for the accuracy of internet service at your residence. UW Extension will be at the Village Hall in Gilman from 11am -12pm Noon Thursday 1/12/2023 to help anyone that wants to object to the map. Deadline to order your 2021-2022 yearbook January 6, 2023.

All Gilman School District games and after school activities are canceled tonight, Tuesday, January 3, 2023. Travel safe tonight.

The School District of Gilman will be closed due to the winter storm warning on Thursday, December 22nd and Friday, December 23rd. Students will have virtual at home learning packets for both days. There will be no after school activities Wednesday, December 21st through Friday, December 23rd. Please stay safe.

All basketball games and wrestling meets for Thursday, December 22 are CANCELLED!

The FFA fruit will be delivered on Monday, December 19.

Just a reminder that since the school is closed today, (Thursday, December 15) that all school activities are canceled as well.

The Varsity game for Thursday, December 8 has been moved up to 6:30 pm, and there will be NO JV game.

The Varsity Girls Basketball game that is scheduled to be played in Gilman against Greenwood tonight (Tuesday, November 29) will be played at 6:00 pm.

The Wisconsin Athletic Director Association ⭐Wish Week is November 28th thru December 3rd . During this week all Wisconsin schools are asked to do their part to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish 🌟foundation. All proceeds raised in Wisconsin will stay in Wisconsin. Tonight, Gilman High School will do their part to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. At various times during tonight’s doubleheader, there will be a chance to donate money for this cause. Gilman High School and the Wisconsin Athletic Director’s Association thank you for your generosity. 💫 #piratepride
